Tonnage calculator

How much do you actually need?

Aggregate is sold by weight and specified by volume, which is why so many orders come in short. Put in the area, pick a product, and this works out the tonnes and the truck loads — then sends the whole thing to an estimator if you want a price.

Your area

Granular settles when it is rolled. Ordering the compacted figure is what stops you from being a half-load short on the last lift.

An estimate, not a quotation. Site conditions, sub-grade and waste change the real number — an estimator will confirm it before you order.

What comes off our screens.

Everything below is produced at our own quarries. If you need something that is not on this list, ask — we crush to order more often than people expect.

Granular

Base and sub-base products for roads, driveways, parking areas and pads.

Clear & crushed stone

Washed, uniform stone for drainage, bedding and finishing.

Sand

Washed and unwashed sands for concrete, masonry, bedding and winter maintenance.

Armour & erosion control

Heavy stone for shorelines, ditches and retaining structures.

Reference

Specification and density table.

The densities our estimators use when they are working out a tonnage from a volume. Useful if you are checking our numbers against your own.

A note on density. These are working figures for estimating, not lab certificates. Actual density varies by quarry, moisture and degree of compaction. Ask for the current test data if your specification is tight.

Quality control

We test our own material, in our own lab.

Gradation, moisture, Micro-Deval, Los Angeles abrasion — run in-house, on our own product, before it leaves the pit.

It means we can put a certificate in front of a municipal inspector on the same day it is asked for, and it means a specification failure gets caught on our scale instead of on your grade.
