The plant
Batching is a measurement problem.
Concrete is only as good as the consistency of what goes into the drum. A computerized plant weighs every component, every load, every time.
Grant Ready Mix has grown into one of the larger divisions of the company, and it has an advantage most ready mix operations do not: the sand and stone are ours. We are not buying aggregate on the open market and hoping this month's gradation matches last month's.
That vertical integration is why we can hold a mix design steady across a long project — and why we can batch an unusual specification without a three-week lead time.

Scale is not the interesting part — consistency is. The same batching discipline goes into a two-metre residential pour as into an infrastructure contract.

Before you order
Questions worth asking.
Length × width × thickness, in metres, gives you cubic metres. A 4 m × 6 m slab at 100 mm is 2.4 m³. Order slightly over rather than under — a short load in the middle of a pour is far more expensive than a little waste. Call us with the dimensions and we will check the arithmetic with you.
If you have drawings, the engineer has already specified it — send us the spec. If you do not, tell us what the concrete is for and whether it is exposed to weather and road salt, and we will recommend a class. Anything outdoors in this climate should be air-entrained.
For a standard mix, usually a couple of days. For a large continuous pour, a specified design, or anything during the spring and autumn rush, give us as much notice as you can. Weather moves pours constantly — tell us early and we will work the schedule around it.
Yes, with the right precautions — heated mixes, accelerators, and proper protection and curing on your end. Cold-weather concreting is routine in Eastern Ontario, but it is a conversation to have before the truck is booked, not after.
